Insinger, Saskatchewan

Many churches refurbish objects, especially church banners. The painted icon in the middle of the banner is removed and set into new fabric. This practice not only saves the church money; it also allows for the preservation of significant historical objects.  Examples of refurbished banners can be found in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Insinger, Saskatchewan  and the Dormition of the Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church in Mac Nutt. The Mac Nutt Church recently received new banners from Ukraine (red banner below), but they still keep their old, refurbished banners as historical artefacts.
