The Sanctuary Project seeks to document all churches where Ukrainians might have worshipped in the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. There are a great many churches in the province of Manitoba. These are being documented by that province’s university. Churches in Eastern Canada and British Columbia await their documentation teams.

The map above shows the areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan which were visited. A total of 108 towns and villages were visited but many of these had more than one church or location where interviews were recorded; hence a total of 154 churches or locations were visited.

For example, the map below shows visits made in 2011 and 2013 to the Prince Albert Region. Interviews were conducted in 17 churches or locations in: Bodnari, Cudworth, Laniwci, Lepine, Meath Park, Prince Albert, Rosthern, Samburg, Shipman, St. Julien, Wakaw, and Yellow Creek.

Over the years 2010-2018, over 250 people were interviewed, producing 173 hours of recordings.
