The Sanctuary team focuses on 2 types of documentation: photographs and interviews. The photographs include church exteriors, all outbuildings such as belfries, church interiors, and all objects within the church such as icons, banners, vestments.
The interviews document ritual practice. Ritual practice includes rites of passages such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals. It also includes calendar ritual, the celebration of holidays such as Christmas and Easter. In each location, background information on the church and its congregation was also recorded.
The Sanctuary Project is a small gift to all the people who work to preserve sacral culture against increasingly high odds.
