Mike and Sylvia Sas were married in the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kamsack. They walked into the church together and were, together, greeted at the door. They arrived late for the liturgy, but made it in time to get married. During the ceremony they stood on a rushnyk, made by Mrs. Sawchuk. The same rushnyk was then used to tie their hands together. Mike wore a corsage and Sylvia wore a vinok. Both items were made of mirt (myrtle). Sylvia treasured this very Ukrainian part of the wedding so much that she preserved both her vinok and her husband’s corsage.
