Randy Krochak’s family has been involved in the Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church for decades. His maternal grandfather took part in the very first meeting, where plans were made to build the church. His grandparents came from Ukraine and wanted a place to worship God and this is the reason that they worked toward the construction of the church. Randy’s mother made many of the rushnyky (ritual cloths) that go around the icons in the Ascension Church. These days Randy helps maintain the church at the request of the other members of the congregation. Randy had been away from this area for a while but, in 2015, on Ascension, he rejoined the Ascension church and renewed his membership.  This means that three generations of Randy’s family have been involved in the building, decorating, and maintaining of this church.
