Drobot, Saskatchewan

Men and women at the Drobot, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church would sit on separate sides of the church. Orville Drobot remembers that, as a young boy, all of the children would start by sitting with their mothers on the women’s side. As they grew older, the boys would, move over to sit with their fathers on the men’s side. While most churches no longer observe separate men’s and women’s seating, some of the older parishioners in Drobot do not want to break away from their old customs.
