Sylvia Doroshenko described her wedding in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox church. Sylvia says that when she and her husband were taking their vows, they stood on a cloth, which is called a rushnyk (a ritual towel). It was a white plain rushnyk, not embroidered and Sylvia still keeps it in her wedding trunk. This is an important item and one of her daughters used it for her own wedding.
